Tollywood director Gunasekhar spits fire on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. It may be recalled here that the Andhra Pradesh government had exempted the entertainment tax for Balakrishna’s 100th movie ‘Gauthami Putra Shatakarni’, along with Telangana government. This had led to the controversy now. This decision was found fault by Gunasekhar and he started criticising the AP government and Naidu. In 2015, Gunasekhar had brought out a film based on the life and history of Kakatiya queen Rani Rudramadevi.
Soon after the appeal made by Gunasekhar, Telangana government had granted the exemption of entertainment tax but the AP government kept the decision under consideration. However, soon after the producers of ‘Gauthami Putra Shatakarni’ made an appeal after the completion of the shooting, the AP government passed the orders of exemption of entertainment tax. Keeping this in view, Gunasekhar, the producer and director of ‘Rudramadevi’ penned an open letter to Chandrababu Naidu questioning his bias towards his brother-in-law Balakrishna and the injustice meted out to him.
He appealed to reconsider the issue of granting exemption of entertainment tax to ‘Rudramadevi’. He placed a copy of the open letter in the social media as well. This issue has become a hot topic for debate in the film industry. Let us wait and see how Chandrababu Naidu would respond to this letter.
